Phil Broster Memorial Race for Healeys confirmed for
Castle Combe Autumn Classic
6th October 2018

Healeysport, the competition arm of the Austin Healey Club UK, has been invited to run a 25 minute memorial race at this years Autumn Classic and we have decided to celebrate the memory of Phil 'Scoop' Broster who became the voice of the AHC Championship races for over twenty years through his very particular race reports for both the Club magazine, Rev Counter, and the national racing 'glossies'

The AHC Championship was run from the early eighties until the end of 2011 after which the Sprite championship cars joined forces with the MGCC to run in The Midget and Sprite series which continues to the present day

Phil continued to report on this series for both the AHC and the MGCC until his untimely death in 2017 by which time he had become and absolute 'fixture' in the racing scene. He is still sadly missed but very much remembered for his acerbic reporting and quirky photography and this race will give all the cars and drivers that owe their 'press exposure' to Phil a chance to pay their respects.

It is hoped that his family will join us for the day and enjoy us paying the tribute to him that he deserves

Want to race with us?

The race will be open to all Sprites, 100 & 3000 cars that competed in the Championship races until 2011 plus all Sprites running in the Midget and Sprite series to date and will be run to the Regulations of the AHC Championship as last run and the MGCC current Regulations which are current.

Entry forms and regulations are available on www.healeysport.org or www.ccracingclub.co.uk and follow the links or further details from Joe Cox of Healeysport

Want to come and watch?

We hope all Healey owners will join us in the dedicated AHC Parking at the Castle Combe circuit on the day to see the Sprites and Big Healeys racing together for the first time since 2011 and to witness the 'David and Goliath' struggles that were such a feature of our championship series

More Healeys can be seen on the day in the headline race, The Sports and GT Cup, and The FISCaR '50s Intermarque race so come and support the Marque and enjoy a great days racing at this 'bling-free' classic event in the west country.

Details of our special ‘early bird’ discounted ticket deals and how to apply for them can be found on the member’s area of the Club web site.
